WOMEN'S SOCCER'S JULIA HERRERA IS RECIPIENT OF THE FEMALE HORNET AWARD

Women’s Soccer’s Julia Herrera is the winner of this year’s Female Hornet Award…nominated by coaches, the honor is awarded to one male and female student-athlete that best exemplify the spirit of a Hornet with their sportsmanship, community service and intangibles that make them a great teammate.

Julia Herrera, Senior
• Two-time second team all-Big Sky Conference selection
• Five-time Big Sky all-academic selection
• Sacramento State’s all-time games played leader (86), fifth all-time in minutes (6,267)
• Two-time team captain
• Works as a residential counselor at Children’s Receiving Home of Sacramento – a program that provides residential treatment for children who have suffered abuse, neglect or other trauma.  
• Graduated magna cum laude in the spring of 2021 with a child and adolescent development degree, and 3.80 GPA
• A 7-time member of the Dean’s Honor List
• Currently pursuing a master’s degree in child and adolescent development, and has a 3.90 GPA
• Member of the women’s soccer team’s leadership group
