Who is Piers Morgan’s fellow journalist wife, Celia Walden? They met during an interview, dated while the former BBC host was still married, and she just wrote about his disapproval of her male friends
The age-old question of whether men and women can truly be “just friends” was the topic of journalist Celia Walden’s latest piece for the Daily Mail.
Walden, who is married to Piers Morgan, opened up about her husband’s disapproval of her male friends and her dismay in response because, to her, they are “husbands, minus the sex or the resentment”.
“Like throw pillows, I’ve had to fight for every [male friend] I possess,” she wrote candidly, adding, “He’s convinced (like so many men) that any straight man is only using ‘the old friendship ruse’ to try to sleep with me.” Walden further revealed that her daughter, 12-year-old Elise, had a male bestie when she was five and the two were so inseparable that he’d even follow her to the restroom. It saddened Walden that such friendships often do not last into adulthood.
So, besides her deep desire for male friendships, what else do we know about Celia Walden?

How did Piers Morgan meet his wife, Celia Walden?
The couple met for the first time in 2006 when Morgan, now 59, interviewed her for a British GQ photo shoot. However, it was her sense of humour that later left him smitten. After messing up a speech in front of a thousand people, Morgan spotted Walden laughing, which convinced him that she was “perfect bride material”, per British media.
They started dating while he was still married to Marion Shalloe, according to reports. The former couple divorced in 2008, and the new couple got married in 2010. They had their first child together – Morgan’s fourth – Elise, in November 2011.
The couple just celebrated 14 years together
The sense of humour is clearly still alive in their relationship today. Walden celebrated her 14th anniversary with “Mr Morgan” recently with a cheeky post about the stages of a relationship, where the final one is, “Why are you breathing so loud?”
