Per i-D, Kaufman, now 30, participated in beauty contests with her sister when she was younger, and was dancing from the age of nine. She knew her career would be in acting or modelling from a young age.

The casting director of Victoria’s Secret, John Pfeiffer, was especially impressed by Kaufman back when she was a new face for the brand. “Valery Kaufman is one of those girls; this is her first time doing the show, and she is incredible,” he said to Vogue in 2015.

Since then, Kaufman has modelled for Schiaparelli, Giambattista Valli and Giorgio Armani Privé.

Kaufman has a soft spot for animals – and it extends beyond her adorable pet dog Cosmo, per Cosmopolitan. She revealed via an Instagram post earlier this year that she had been working with the non-profit organisation Cibou et Compagnie, which offers refuge for abused and disabled animals. “I’m thrilled and humbled to meet people who devote their lives to saving and taking care of the animals who deserve a second chance,” she wrote on Instagram.

Kaufman was first linked to the Morbius actor, who is 23 years older than her, in 2015. The pair were reportedly friends first before they started dating, per People. A source also told the outlet that they had been “off and on” for a couple of years, during which time Kaufman even met Leto’s mother.

Both parties kept their relationship under wraps, although they were photographed together on multiple occasions through the years. The former couple is said to have been together for around seven years, with many assuming it was Leto’s longest relationship. They broke up in 2022.

The wedding venue was Villa D’Este in Cernobbio. The model wore a Christian Dior haute couture dress while Varsano donned a tailor-made Dior suit.

Kaufman also wore three Balmain dresses over the weekend of their wedding, all of which remained consistent with the theme of a white rose. Her friend Georgi Sandev did her make-up, and her godfather walked her down the aisle.

“I can’t describe the difference after the wedding, but I am overflowing with love and warmth,” the newlywed said to Vogue.
