Whale Shark Spotted Near Charna Island, Karachi
A rare whale shark was recently spotted near Charna Island, close to Karachi. The sighting was made during a diving session organized by the Pakistan Boat Rally and Fishing Association (PBRFA). Divers were thrilled to encounter the majestic creature, capturing stunning underwater footage of the shark.
The divers spent around 20 minutes swimming alongside the whale shark, an experience that left them in awe of the gentle giant. Charna Island is known for attracting marine life, especially after the winter and monsoon seasons, and this sighting further highlights the island’s significance as a hub for marine activity.
According to PBRFA, whale sharks and other marine species visit Charna Island primarily in search of food. This seasonal migration draws attention to the delicate balance of the ecosystem and the importance of protecting these creatures. With only about 150,000 whale sharks left in the world, such encounters are both rare and valuable for raising awareness about marine conservation.
