CHIAYI, Taiwan (Reuters) – Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen visited military engineers on Saturday and reviewed their coaching, saying that defending democracy is the armed forces’ “nice” mission, forward of a visit subsequent week to the USA and Central America.
China, which views Taiwan as its personal territory, has stepped up its army and political stress over the previous three years or so to try to power the island to just accept Chinese language sovereignty, viewing Tsai as a separatist.
She is making a high-profile and delicate journey to the USA and Central America beginning on Wednesday. China has condemned the USA for permitting her to go, although her go to there may be technically solely a transit.
