China aims to boost imports and exports in 2026 to drive trade growth: senior official

“We will expand both exports and imports to drive the sustainable development of foreign trade,” said Han Wenxiu, deputy director of the Central Financial and Economic Affairs Commission’s general office, at an annual conference hosted by the think tank China Centre for International Economic Exchanges, according to state broadcaster CCTV.
He noted that China would encourage service exports next year and step up efforts to boost digital and green trade.
The IMF urged China to act “swiftly and decisively” to advance the transition, calling for a more forceful policy package – including more expansionary macroeconomic policies, strengthened social protection and targeted support for adjustments in the property sector – to bolster confidence and stimulate consumption.
