PTI leaders rally in London, demand release of Imran Khan
LONDON: Members of the PTI UK Chapter staged a protest outside 10 Downing Street, the official residence of UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, demanding the release of former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, along with other detained party leaders.
The protest, held on Sunday, saw participation from prominent party figures including former federal minister Zulfi Bukhari, former National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri, and other PTI stalwarts like Sher Afzal Marwat, Sahibzada Amir Jahangir, Sajjad Bukhari, Asim Khan, and Khalil Imran.
The demonstrators, equipped with banners, placards, and party flags, chanted slogans throughout the event.
PTI leaders addressed the crowd, alleging that senior party members and supporters in Pakistan were being unjustly imprisoned as a means of political victimization. They claimed that these detentions involved violations of basic human rights and were carried out with impunity.
The leaders also criticized what they referred to as a “fake Form-47 government” in Pakistan, accusing it of devastating the country’s economy.
They emphasised that while protests within Pakistan were being suppressed, overseas Pakistanis would continue to voice their opposition to the alleged injustices facing Imran Khan and other PTI leaders. The speakers committed to continuing their protest until all incarcerated party leaders were released.
