Acting on strict directives from the district administration and senior police officials, Morgah police raided a recreational park in the posh area of Gulistan Colony, removing all lavish cars from the park and disrupting the best performances ceremony.
Officials claimed that the organisers were holding an unauthorised sports car show.
After the area notables complained to the higher authorities about the noisy activity, the police swung into action, initially confiscated all the lavish cars showcased at the event and later removed them from the park, causing chaos in the area. The police also halted the prize distribution ceremony.
Organisers pleaded to continue the show in exchange for a hefty ‘bribe’, but the police, under the orders of higher authorities, did not relent, resulting in significant financial losses for the organisers, including the wasted registration fees for the cars.
Police officials reported that the car show featured vehicles with modified silencers, creating loud noises and fireworks, which disturbed the families in the area and prompted complaints.
The show included 40 different types of cars, all of which were involved in sound-breaking and skidding, causing noise pollution. There were no safety measures in place for fast driving, and the event lacked permission.
Approximately 200-250 young men attended the event, many driving the cars recklessly in and around the park, increasing the risk of accidents and harm. The administration confirmed that no permit had been issued for the event.
While the organisers argued that it was a private event within the park’s boundaries and they had their own security guards, the police rejected this explanation, emphasising that such shows are illegal and without district administration approval. No legal action was taken against anyone involved.
