Pirate Software responds to OnlyFangs WoW hardcore drama, reveals death threats against him and mods

Twitch streamer Thor, also known as Pirate Software, addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding the OnlyFangs World of Warcraft Hardcore guild after a recent raid led to the deaths of two players. In a statement posted on January 13, 2025, Pirate Software expressed disbelief at being blamed for the deaths, explaining that the incident was a result of mistakes made by the entire group, not just one individual.

Pirate Software, an ex-Blizzard employee and seasoned mage player, criticized those who singled him out for the deaths and pointed out how some individuals were calling for his death or cancellation. He described their actions as “absurd” and unhealthy, emphasizing that excessive online backlash was not an appropriate response. “If you’re calling for death or cancellation over it, you’re too invested in this content in a very unhealthy way,” he stated.

The controversy escalated when Pirate Software revealed that he and his moderators were subjected to severe harassment, including hate raids and death threats. He shared that his team had banned over 4,000 accounts across various platforms for spreading vitriolic messages. Among the threats were false accusations about animal abuse and criminal activity, and some even attempted to get him banned from Twitch, World of Warcraft, and the Hardcore OnlyFangs guild.

Despite the harsh criticism, Pirate Software remained resolute in his stance. He concluded his statement by reaffirming his commitment to continue streaming and participating in WoW Hardcore. He declared that the “internet hate machine” would not defeat him or his community, promising to return for his next stream on January 14, 2025.
