Pakistan Railways Unveils Escalator and CCTV Camera Plan to Enhance Passenger Amenities

Pakistan Railways has announced significant upgrades to its services, including the installation of escalators at major railway stations to assist elderly and disabled passengers. The decision was shared by Chief Executive Officer Amer Ali Baloch during an open court session on social media, where he addressed various public complaints and concerns.

In addition to the escalators, Pakistan Railways is planning to install CCTV cameras in passenger trains to enhance security. Baloch emphasized that a robust mechanism would be put in place to prevent vandalism of these security cameras. This initiative aims to ensure the safety and security of passengers during their travels.

Furthermore, Baloch highlighted a zero-tolerance policy towards smoking on trains, stating that legal action would be taken against offenders. “No one comes to travel on trains just to inhale smoke. We will take measures to save them,” he asserted. He also mentioned that recent fare reductions have been a significant relief for passengers, and any instances of overcharging by railway staff would be strictly dealt with.

To improve passenger comfort at railway stations, Baloch directed officers to ensure the availability of shaded areas and clean drinking water. Addressing the issue of beggars and hawkers on trains, he promised stringent action against any responsible officials allowing such disruptions.

Responding to a complaint about limited parking space at Rahim Yar Khan Station, Baloch instructed the divisional superintendent to take appropriate measures to facilitate passengers and visitors.

These initiatives by Pakistan Railways reflect a commitment to enhancing passenger convenience and safety across the railway network.
