Pakistan First Electric Taxi Service in Sindh to Launch Soon

Sindh is set to make history with the launch of Pakistan’s first electric vehicle (EV) taxi service. Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced this groundbreaking initiative by the Sindh Department of Transport, which includes the introduction of both standard EV taxis and Pink EV taxis designed specifically for female passengers.

This innovative project aims to provide the public with a modern and eco-friendly transportation option. By integrating EV taxis into the transportation network, the Sindh Government is taking a significant step toward sustainable mobility. The Pink EV taxis, in particular, will offer a safer and more comfortable travel experience for women.

In May, Minister Memon outlined plans to deploy 200 electric taxis in Karachi, including 50 Pink EV taxis reserved exclusively for women passengers. This initiative underscores the commitment to improving public transportation and ensuring dedicated services for female commuters. Female drivers will be recruited for the Pink taxis to prioritize women’s safety, making the service not only reliable but also cost-effective.

The rollout of these EV taxi services is expected to commence soon, providing a cleaner, more efficient alternative to conventional taxis. This move will significantly reduce carbon emissions and offer a reliable transportation option for all citizens, with a special emphasis on women’s safety and convenience.

Stay tuned as Sindh leads the way in transforming Pakistan’s transportation landscape with this pioneering initiative.
