My Favorite Kitchen Tools and Small Appliances You Should Buy on Prime Day

The push notifications are coming for you, if they haven’t already—Amazon Prime Day is here. This is your chance to take inventory of your kitchen gear and think about what needs replacing. Backyard parties and salad-making duty awaits, so make sure you have all the tools you need for summer.

A reliable kitchen scale

I reach for my kitchen scale on a daily basis, and every well-equipped kitchen should have one. I keep mine tucked away in a drawer, and this one has an extremely low profile which means you won’t have to sacrifice counter space.

A food processor

I get a ton of use out of my food processor. It can take care of everything from fruit smoothies to chopping nuts, or spiralizing zucchini. Here’s a deal on your new kitchen workhorse.

A compact hand mixer

For mixing most cookie doughs, cake batters, and whipping cream for your summer berry pie, a hand mixer is all you need to lighten the work. Check out this model, which includes a handy whisk attachment.

A set of pots and pans

You won’t get too far in the kitchen without a set of pots and pans—or maybe you have a set but it’s time for an upgrade. Here’s a set you’ll want to show off.

An end-grain cutting board

A good cutting board will protect you and your knives. Plus, beautiful ones like this one, can serve as impromptu platters or charcuterie boards.

A couple good knives

A knife set in a block may look appealing, but odds are good that you’re only going to reach for the same two or three. Instead of buying all that wasted metal, grab just a few good quality knives. I most often use a santoku, chef’s knife, and utility knife. This set gets pretty close.

A better rice cooker

I had my last rice cooker for about 18 years. That’s a great value, but there are just some appliances that need to be retired at a certain point. I traded in my antique for this Toshiba and our relationship is going swimmingly thus far.
