Marius Borg Høiby – the son of Norway’s Princess Mette-Marit and stepson of Crown Prince Haakon – was arrested over the weekend, after allegedly “causing bodily harm” to a woman who ended up being treated at a hospital for a concussion, as reported by People.
AP reports that the incident took place on August 4 when officers responded to a disturbance in Oslo and detained 27-year-old Borg Høiby, who now faces preliminary charges of bodily harm and criminal damage. Per the source, police said there was “a relationship between the suspect and the victim” and they “currently do not have information that the victim has suffered serious injuries”.

Who are Marius Borg Høiby’s parents?
Borg Høiby is the firstborn son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit and convicted felon Morten Borg, per Hello! Magazine. Little is known about his biological father and what his relationship is like with him today. He has two step-siblings from his mother’s marriage to Crown Prince Haakon – the future queen Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus.
How did Prince Haakon meet Princess Mette-Marit?
The Quart Festival – Norway’s largest music gathering – played an important role in the love story of his mum and Crown Prince Haakon meeting. It was at one of the event’s garden parties that the prince and the former waitress first crossed paths. A few years later, when Mette-Marit had already given birth to Marius, they bumped into each other again and became romantically involved, marrying in 2001.

Back in 2017, his mother confirmed the fact in an open letter shared on the royal family’s website. “Marius has always had a role that has been difficult to define in the public sphere,” she wrote, as translated by People. “He is and will be an exceptionally important part of our family.
