Meet Hilary Swank’s husband Philip Schneider: the Million Dollar Baby actress shares twins with the social entrepreneur, and they’re both nature obsessed
Swank’s husband is somewhat elusive online, but has been described as a “social venture entrepreneur” by Vogue, meaning he invests in or creates companies finding solutions for social, economic, or environmental issues.
How did Hilary Swank and Philip Schneider meet?
The Ordinary Angels star was reportedly set up on a blind date with Schneider by actor Misha Collins’ wife Victoria Vantoch in 2014. “We met at 10am and parted ways at 11pm,” Swank told Vogue in 2018. “We clearly enjoyed our time!” After that first date, it only took a year and a half before the couple got engaged in 2016 and then married in 2018.
Schneider popped the question in Colorado with a waterfall as the backdrop, and made sure the special moment was witnessed. “He sweetly made sure my dogs were nearby so they could bear witness,” Swank told Vogue of the picturesque proposal.
Their wedding was a “dream come true”
Swank’s second wedding (she was previously married to American actor Chad Lowe) sounded nothing short of magical thanks to the setting the couple chose. The nuptials took place in Carmel, California, at the Santa Lucia Preserve, where the nature-loving couple were surrounded by 800-year-old redwood trees as they said their vows.
“It was timeless. There is just no other way to describe it,” Swank said of the day. “I was overwhelmed with such gratitude and thanks to be marrying the man of my dreams and to see all the people we love together in the middle of such a profound setting. It was truly a dream come true”.
They went off-grid for his 50th birthday
For Schneider’s 50th birthday, the twosome spent six days off-grid in Alaska. Swank told People that they “went fly-fishing, hiking, exploring, looking for wildlife. Nature is my favourite, and Alaska is like nature on steroids”.
Do Hilary Swank and Philip Schneider have any children?
When Swank and Schneider were expecting, the Amelia actress shared on Live with Kelly and Ryan that twins run in the family – both hers and his. And when theirs arrived, they made sure to name them meaningfully.
The couple named their daughter Aya after a Syrian refugee they met in Lebanon, a “courageous, brave young girl full of life going through a really difficult time,” Swank revealed on Today. “My husband and I were like, she’s so beautiful, what a great name”. The actress added that their son Ohm is named after “the first universal sound” that “unites all people”.
