Low Carb Keto Flatbread | BaldHiker
Here is another base recipe that I use for all manner of dishes. This Keto Flatbread is great tasting just as a snack on its own but can be used for so many things.
It makes a great pizza base as well a bread for a wrap and sandwiches. It makes a wonderful side for soups and salads as well.
Of course on keto, bread is always a big no go. But this recipe gets rid of all that starchy, carbohydrate packed flour etc with alternative ingredients.
I use almond flour as my substitute and make it extra yummy by combining with 2 different cheeses that really help to get flavour, as well as texture, plus all round less bloat.
Using these ingredients also helps the recipe to be gluten free so it is a win for those following numerous diets.
Making them yourself you can make these keto flatbreads as thick or as large as you desire. Here are just a few suggestions for their use:
Consider using it as a wrap for grilled chicken, lettuce, and avocado for a quick and nutritious meal. It works wonderfully as a base for personal mini pizzas—top it with sugar-free tomato sauce, cheese, and your favorite keto-friendly toppings.
For a heartier option, serve the flatbread alongside a warm bowl of soup or chili, soaking up the flavors while keeping carbs to a minimum. It also makes an excellent side for salads, providing a satisfying crunch that complements fresh greens and toppings.
The versatility of keto flatbread extends to breakfast, too—try spreading cream cheese and avocado for a delicious morning treat.
Storing. Once completely cooled, store the flatbread in an airtight container in the refrigerator, where it can last for up to a week. Alternatively, for longer storage, consider freezing the flatbread. Separate the pieces with parchment paper to prevent them from sticking together and place them in a freezer-safe bag. They can be stored frozen for up to three months.
When you’re ready to enjoy your frozen flatbread, simply thaw it in the refrigerator overnight or reheat it directly from the freezer in an oven or toaster oven until warmed through. This makes it easy to have a quick, low carb option on hand whenever cravings strike.
