Job description: Target Start Date1/8/2024Target End Date6/30/2024A medical center in north-central Virginia has an opening for a Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide locum coverage.Opening Highlights:

• Schedule: 8:00a-4:30p, Monday-Friday
• Offsite call
• 2 ORs
• Typically, 4-8 cases per week
• Required Skills: Vein harvesting, chest tube placements
• EMR: Epic
• Board certification required
• Paid travel & expenses

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• National Institutes of Health (NIH)
• Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
• Active unencumbered Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner state license
• Graduate from a fully accredited NP or PA program
• One year of work experience as Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
• One year of Epic experience
• Board Certified

• Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills.
• Participates in relevant continuing education programs.
• Knowledge of and dedication to the highest patient care and provide the utmost service excellence to all patients.
• Ability to take initiative and to exercise independent judgment, decision-making and problem-solving expertise.
• A can-do, team oriented attitude is essential, as the ability to work independently and to interact easily with physicians, other managers and staff throughout the department and hospital.
• Effective interpersonal/communication, organizational, and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks.
