Lahore Zoo Reopens with Limited Facilities

After a period of closure for renovations, Lahore Zoo will once again welcome visitors. This historic zoo, established in the 1860s and one of the oldest in Pakistan, will provide access to various points within the zoo. Visitors can look forward to seeing new birds, animals, lions, and tigers. Nightlife Safari at Safari Zoo

In addition to daytime visits, Safari Zoo will introduce a nightlife safari starting on Monday. This unique experience will allow visitors to see the zoo’s inhabitants in a different light, operating from 8 PM to 10 PM. With 80 percent of the work completed over the past six months, the nightlife safari promises to be an exciting addition to the Safari Zoo’s offerings.

A Glimpse into Lahore Zoo’s Rich History

Lahore Zoo’s storied past began in the 1860s as a menagerie and was formally established as a zoo in 1872, thanks to an aviary donated by Lala Mela Ram. Over the years, the zoo’s management has shifted through various departments, eventually being placed under the Wildlife & Parks Department in 1982. Significant improvements in animal housing, building layouts, and landscaping have transformed Lahore Zoo into a self-financed organization that attracts around 4.5 million visitors annually.
