Kendrick Lamar drops Not Like Us video, celebrates West Coast and takes shots at Drake
Kendrick Lamar has finally dropped the music video for his chart-topping Drake diss track “Not Like Us,” solidifying his victory in their rap beef. Filmed in his hometown of Compton and featuring appearances from his family, the video celebrates West Coast culture while subtly mocking Drake and his OVO Sound label.
The video opens with Lamar doing push-ups on cinder blocks, a direct reference to Drake’s track “Push Ups,” and later shows him hitting an owl piñata, a symbol of Drake’s OVO owl logo. The video also features Lamar’s fiancée Whitney Alford and their two children, a response to Drake’s accusations in the diss track “Family Matters.”
The release of the “Not Like Us” video marks a triumphant moment for Lamar, whose diss track became a massive hit, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The video serves as a celebration of his West Coast roots and a final word in the rap feud with Drake.
Lamar recently performed “Not Like Us” six times in a row at his “The Pop Out” concert in Los Angeles, further solidifying the song’s popularity and his dominance in the rap game. He also brought out a star-studded lineup of West Coast artists, including Dr. Dre, YG, Tyler the Creator, and Schoolboy Q, emphasizing his loyalty to his hometown and the West Coast rap scene.
