Job description: DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Experience and Stewardship by: performing designated ADL and HHA skills as assigned by, and under the supervision of an RN.PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:Quality/No Harm
- Performs HHA skills as taught/directed by the RN Supervisor.
- Report changes in patient/family behavior or patient condition to Supervisor as soon as possible.
- Maintains regular work attendance as scheduled.
- Utilizes current blood/body substance and infection control policies and guidelines.
- Attend or participate in required in-services or online E-Learning.
- Never accepts gifts or money from patients or patient’s family members.
- Maintain current American Heart Association CPR card.
- May not leave the patient’s home without permission and may not leave an around the clock case until relief arrives.
- Assist the patient with personal care activities following the plan of care established by the Clinical Operations Supervisor.
- Maintain required components of personnel record which are to be updated annually or as required.
- May not use cell phone for personal calls while in the patient’s home.
Customer Experience
- Contributes to effective consumer relations by assisting patients, families, coworkers and other health care members to resolve expressed concerns by demonstrating a positive and helpful attitude.
- Respects and follows the 9 commitments when dealing with patients, co-workers, and supervisors.
- All scheduling must be done through the office, not with the patient or patient’s family.
Stewardship
- Maintain accurate, legible documentation of patient care provided by following direction in the Home Health Aide Assignment Sheet.
- Turn in payroll documents by designated deadlines.
- Other duties as assigned.
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Successful completion of a minimum of 40 hours Home Health Aide Certification program, or successful completion of the AHCA Florida Competency Test.
- Successful completion of Level II background screening (fingerprinting)
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Saving CPR card.
- Have reliable transportation to fulfill assignments and work expectations as needed
CERTIFICATION:
- An individual with a Florida CNA certificate can be employed by a home health agency as a Home Health Aide.
- CNAs who earn their certificate in another state may work as a Home Health Aide providing, they present a copy of their current CNA certificate from that state; Private Duty Management Administration reserves the right to request out of state CNAs take the Florida Competency Test.
- Home Health Aides trained in another state must provide documentation of course completion and may be asked to also complete the Florida Competency Test.
- Individuals who have graduated from an accredited school of nursing and waiting to take their boards for licensure in Florida can work as a Home Health Aide.
- Registered Nurse (RN) and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with proof of licensure in another state can work as a Home Health Aide in Florida.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Safely operate a motor vehicle as evidenced by driving record for 3 years prior to employment.
- NOTE: Associates who do not meet this criteria may be considered for non-transport assignments
- Six months previous home care experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Maneuver in crowded conditions or environments
- Provide care in a variety of home environments and conditions
- Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
- Lift, turn, pull and reach for heavy objects; lift up to 40 lbs, unassisted up to six (6) times daily.
- Ambulate patients up to 20 times daily.
- May be exposed to risk of infectious disease and/or unknown diseases, biohazardous waste, chemical substances.
- Stand, walk, bend and stoop for 90% of assigned shift.
