Francisco San Martin, the actor best known for his role as Dario Hernandez on ‘Days of Our Lives’, passed away on January 16 at the age of 39.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office confirmed the cause of death as suicide by hanging.
Born in Mallorca on August 27, 1985, San Martin made his mark on ‘Days of Our Lives’ in 2011, where he portrayed Dario Hernandez for six months. His character initially appeared as a petty thief but was later revealed to be investigating a cold case. After Dario moved to Argentina, the role was recast with Jordi Vilasuso in 2016.
San Martin’s career extended beyond ‘Days of Our Lives’, including a notable role as Mateo, a groundskeeper on ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ in 2017, and a recurring appearance on ‘Jane the Virgin’ as Fabian Regalo del Cielo. He also appeared in several Spanish stage, TV, and film productions.
Tributes have poured in, including a heartfelt post from ‘Days’ co-star Camila Banus, who portrayed his sister Gabi. She shared a tribute on Instagram, saying, “Pepe, what can I say but I love you and rest in peace, my friend.” San Martin’s legacy is remembered fondly by colleagues and fans alike.
