Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital (JBHH) is a three-story, 180,000-square-foot facility committed to the highest quality, treatment, and service. Opened in 1999, JBHH consolidates evaluation, clinical treatment, teaching and research, to offer a full continuum of care for children, adolescents, adults and elderly, including crisis stabilization, inpatient hospitalization, and outpatient programs. In association with the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry, JBHH offers specialized treatment for numerous conditions including depression and mood disorders, schizophrenia, suicidal ideation or behavior, anxiety and panic disorders, drug and alcohol abuse and Alzheimer’s disease. JBHH also specializes in criminal justice mental health services.Summary

• Driver Attendant is light manual work in the operation of motor vehicles used to transport the ill.
• Work involves responsibility for the safe operation of passenger vehicles such as vans, station wagons or automobiles in transporting ill persons.
• Incumbents typically transport patients to clinics, hospitals or other treatment facilities from nursing homes or private residences.

Responsibilities

• Operates passenger vehicles to transport patients between nursing or private homes and clinics or other medical facilities; transports clients being treated under rehabilitation programs to clinics or other treatment or diagnostic facilities.
• Administers first aid in emergencies to patients in transit; transports patients to appropriate facility for further care.
• Completes dispatch records showing patients name, destination mileage and other related information. Assures that assigned vehicles are clean and adequately supplied with fuel; reports need for maintenance to supervisor.
• Responds to Medical Emergencies in the Ambulatory Care Center (East/West).
• Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise).
• Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
