On the 10th of Muharram, processions and gatherings took place in cities across Pakistan.
Markazi Jaloos Ashura Karachi
The main Ashura procession in Karachi started from Nishtar Park and reached Rainbow Center in Saddar. The intense heat caused one person to faint, and they were taken to the hospital. Before the procession, Allama Shahenshah Hussain Naqvi delivered a speech at Nishtar Park.
Lahore Ashura Jaloos
In Lahore, the main Ashura procession began at Nisar Haveli inside Mochi Gate and has reached Mohalla Shiyan.
Markazi Jaloos Peshawar
In Peshawar, 12 processions will start from various Imambargahs. The first procession has already begun from Imambargah Syed Ali Shah Rizvi. Security is tight, with 14,000 police officers deployed and bomb disposal units clearing the routes. Roads leading to the processions are sealed, and mobile phone services are suspended. CCTV cameras are monitoring the processions.
Markazi Jaloos Quetta
In Quetta, mobile phone services are suspended. The main Ashura procession started from Alamdar Road at 9 AM.
Ashura Security in Balochistan
Balochistan’s Interior Minister, Mir Ziaullah Langau, stated that over 10,000 personnel are deployed for Ashura security across the province. He urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement to maintain peace, emphasizing that Muharram teaches the spirit of sacrifice.
Markazi Jaloos Punjab
In Multan, the main 10th Muharram procession began from Imambargah Hira Haidariya and will end at the shrine of Shah Shams Tabrizi at 6 PM. There will be 116 mourning processions across the city.
In Gujranwala, one person died, and three were injured due to an electric shock during the distribution of charity food in a procession.
In Jhang, 249 processions and 164 gatherings will be held on Ashura. The main procession started from Imambargah Hussainia Darbar Gohar Shah.
In Toba Tek Singh, there will be 78 processions and 13 gatherings on Ashura. The main mourning procession began from Imambargah Hussainia Jhang Road and will conclude at 7 PM.
In Muzaffargarh, 165 processions and 279 gatherings will take place, with mobile phone services suspended across the district. The DPO stated that over 3,000 personnel are deployed for security.
In Rajanpur, 67 gatherings and 51 processions will take place. The DPO mentioned that strict security measures are in place, and mobile and internet services are suspended.
Markazi Jaloos Hyderabad
In Hyderabad, the main Ashura procession started from Qadam Gah Maula Ali and will conclude at Karbala Dadan Shah. Security is tight, with over 4,000 officers deployed. Streets and shops along the route are closed, and a control room has been set up for monitoring.
Markazi Jaloos Nawabshah
In Nawabshah, the main Ashura procession started from Imambargah Murtazavi. Various smaller processions will join the main one.
Markazi Jaloos Sukkur
In Sukkur’s Rohri area, the No Dhala Tazia procession will start its final stage after Zuhr prayers. It will reach the Shaheedan Graveyard in Rohri and conclude after 36 hours. The procession began on the nights of the 8th and 9th of Muharram from Imambargah Shah Iraq and stopped at Rohri’s Karbala Ground.
Muharram processions and gatherings across Pakistan are marked by heightened security and suspended mobile services to ensure safety and order.
