BTS ARMY brings the heat as Suga appears before police

BTS’ Suga appeared at Yongsan Police Station on Friday evening for questioning related to an alleged drink-driving incident involving an electric scooter.

The 31-year-old artist, whose real name is Min Yoon-gi, was stopped by police 17 days earlier after attempting to ride the scooter while under the influence of alcohol, following a fall near his residence.

Upon arriving at the station at around 7:45 p.m., Suga publicly apologised, stating, “I am truly sorry” and “I sincerely regret and I am reflecting on the fact that I have caused great disappointment to many of my fans and the public. I will fully cooperate with the investigation.”

While Suga faced questioning, the BTS fanbase, known as ARMY, rallied online to express their unwavering support for the artist. Social media platforms, particularly X (formerly Twitter), were flooded with hashtags such as #ARMYShieldsBTS, #SugaStays, and #ItsGonnaBeAlright #ARMYMediaBlackout as fans showcased their solidarity.

ARMY emphasised their pride in Suga’s cooperation with the investigation and downplayed the need for further scrutiny, considering his earlier written apology sufficient.

BTS remains on hiatus as its members fulfil their mandatory military service, with Suga’s legal situation adding to the challenges faced by the group. Despite this, the overwhelming support from ARMY highlights the strong bond between the artist and his global fanbase.
