Billy Ray Cyrus roasted for awkward performance at Liberty Ball for Trump’s 2025 inauguration

Billy Ray Cyrus, the 62-year-old country singer, faced backlash on social media following his performance at the Liberty Ball in Washington, D.C., during President Donald Trump’s inauguration. The performance, which included a rendition of Old Town Road, was marred by technical issues, leading to visible frustration from Cyrus.

During the set, Cyrus was heard discussing the malfunctioning equipment with the stage crew. At one point, he could be heard asking, “Is my guitar still on?” and expressing concern that he could no longer hear his instrument. As the situation worsened, he became more vocal, saying, “Is anyone awake?” and “Can somebody turn my guitar back on?” He later expressed his frustration, asking the audience if they wanted him to continue or leave the stage.

Once the technical issue was addressed, Cyrus referenced President Trump’s famous phrase about persevering through difficulties, saying, “When you have technical difficulties you got to just keep going – or as President Trump would say, you got to fight!”

The performance, already impacted by the technical glitches, drew additional criticism for an awkward moment where Cyrus was seen walking around the stage while the music continued to play. Many social media users labeled the performance as embarrassing, with some describing it as “possibly the cringiest few minutes in entertainment history.” Others expressed disappointment, claiming Cyrus appeared to be lip-syncing and was disheveled in appearance.

Despite the technical difficulties and negative feedback, Cyrus attempted to salvage the performance, but the mishap remained a talking point for viewers.
