Former Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur has criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) decision to rest star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi for the ongoing Test series against South Africa.
Shaheen, who played a key role in Pakistan’s historic ODI series whitewash against South Africa, is missing from the Test lineup. The PCB has rested him as part of workload management to ensure his top form and fitness for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Arthur, however, expressed disbelief over the move, emphasizing that South Africa offers ideal conditions for pacers like Shaheen.
“I can’t believe it. If he’s not bowling in South Africa, then where the hell are they bowling him? It’s the best place to bowl in the world, almost,” said Arthur.
He further added, “Plus, he gives you a left-arm option. I know they have got Mir Hamza, but Shaheen is a game-breaker and match-winner. Based on his skill, I would include him in any team for South Africa.”
Meanwhile, Shaheen is set to make his debut in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) with Fortune Barishal. The PCB has granted him a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) until January 15, allowing him to play in the first five matches of the tournament.
Dawid Malan registers for PSL 10 draft
In addition to Malan, Australia’s Usman Khawaja, England’s Jason Roy, and David Willey have also made themselves available for selection
England’s Dawid Malan has registered himself for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 draft, expressing his availability for the highly anticipated tournament.
The registration process for PSL 10 is currently underway, with several international players showing keen interest in participating.
In addition to Malan, Australia’s Usman Khawaja, England’s Jason Roy, and David Willey have also made themselves available for selection.
Furthermore, Bangladesh’s pacer Muztafizur Rahman, Zimbabwe’s all-rounder Sikandar Raza, and England’s Tom Curran have registered for the draft.
