Apple Reportedly Poised to Unveil Two Foldable Devices in 2026, Analyst Suggests

Market analyst Jeff Pu, associated with Haitong International Securities Group, has indicated that Apple is set to venture into the foldable device market with the launch of two innovative products in 2026. This move comes after years of speculation surrounding Apple’s interest in foldable technology, despite competitors like Samsung and Google already establishing their presence in this arena.

Foldable Apple Devices

Pu’s investor notes, as reported by 9to5Mac, suggest that Apple’s initial foray into foldables will include a hybrid device combining the features of an iPad and a MacBook. This innovative product is rumored to boast an 18.8-inch display when unfolded, promising a unique user experience.

The second foldable device anticipated from Apple is a foldable iPhone. This aligns with earlier reports indicating that the company has been developing a foldable iPhone, potentially set to debut alongside the iPhone 18 series in 2026. This device is speculated to adopt a clamshell design, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 6.

Launch Timeline

Pu’s research notes further suggest that the iPad-MacBook hybrid will be the first foldable device launched by Apple, with an expected release in Q2 2026. While previous reports hinted at mass production starting next year, Pu indicates that this may no longer be the case.

Following the hybrid device, Apple is expected to introduce the foldable iPhone model. This device was previously speculated to be launched alongside the iPhone 18 series in the second half of 2026. Earlier reports suggested that the handset could feature either 7.9-inch or 8.3-inch displays, with Samsung potentially serving as the primary supplier.

Apple’s exploration of foldable technology has been evident in past reports, including the development of “at least” two iPhone prototypes with a clamshell design. Engineers reportedly aimed to create an iPhone as thin as current models but faced constraints due to the space occupied by battery and display components.
