The magnificent and historical Stonehenge is only 2 miles away but there is so much more to see and do from here you would come time and time again to experience it all.

History of Fairlawn House
Fairlawn House was built in 1837 for a local surgeon during a period marked by significant architectural changes and the rise of the English country house.
Throughout the near 200 years since its original luxurious house use it has been adapted for so many things. It has been a doctor’s surgery, an auction house and has even been used as a ladies’ finishing school.
Even before you step foot inside you can see from the frontage that this house has been witness to so much as Amesbury has moved to the present day.
Today it is a wonderful place to stay, within history, as you adventure out into the local area to see so much of historic Britain close by.

Beyond that you can also take the option of staying in the King Sized loft room that is packed with original character, wooden beams and bistro seating.

Now then, below the rooms there is the marvellous space, The Cellar Restaurant. A great space that is again lovingly designed into a dining area.
A great local menu is on offer too with Sunday Lunch available to not just guests but all who want to book and enjoy.
If you are local, staying here or are visiting the area with friends then you can take the opportunity for private dining and hae the dining area to yourselves.
We dined here more than once and can say the food and service was perfect. Such a lovely ambiance and vibe.

Amesbury is known as the oldest settlement in Britain. It is believed people settled here as long ago as 8820 BC. You only need to look at some of the ancient monuments nearby to realise the importance that Amesbury has played in our history. This makes it a fascinating place to base yourself, discover and learn.

Stonehenge
Yes, one of the most famous ancient landmarks in the world, Stonehenge, is right here on the doorstep of Fairlawn House and Amesbury. You can take a wonderful circular walk straight out of the door to it or the short drive.
Just a few miles away from Stonhenge is Woodhenge that is worth a visit too.
Old Sarum
Another very historic place just a short distance away is Old Sarum. This splendid ruins on the hill has a massive history to be explored. Dating back to the Romans you can discover its use throughout history and how it was the commanding position of the original Salisbury Cathedral.
Salisbury Cathedral
That takes us on to the Salisbury Cathedral we can explore today, Again a short drive from Amesbury and Fairlawn House. The Cathedral is a masterpiece of medieval architecture and has Britain’s tallest spire.
Animal Parks and Zoos
Only half an our away to the west is a treat for the whole family, Longleat Safari Park. For more wildlife learning you can go down the road to visit Winchester’s Marwell Zoo or over to Andover and the Hawk Conservatory Trust.
