Islamabad Gets 30 New Electric Buses: Check Routes and Stops

To tackle pollution and noise while enhancing commuting convenience for students, seniors, and women, the government has introduced a new electric bus service in Islamabad. This initiative aims to provide a cleaner, quieter alternative for daily travel.

Initially, 30 electric buses will operate on two main routes: from NUST to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and from PIMS to Bari Imam. Passengers will pay a flat fare of Rs 50 to ride these buses. Additionally, a total of 70 more buses will soon be added to the fleet, covering 11 additional routes after drivers and assistants complete a month-long training.

In the coming months, the fleet will expand with the arrival of 60 more buses, bringing the total to 160. The service will initially cover two key routes:

  • From NUST Orange Line Depot (G-11) to PIMS Hospital, with stops at G-11 Markaz, G-10 Markaz, G-9 Markaz, G-8 Markaz, and PIMS Hospital.
  • From PIMS Hospital to Bari Imam, stopping at G-7, G-6, Melody, Abpara, Ataturk Road, Serena Hotel, Foreign Office, Radio Pakistan, and Diplomatic Enclave.

The city plans to broaden the service to include 11 additional routes across Islamabad:
