Rawalpindi Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam has dismissed three traffic wardens from service over corruption complaints and ordered various punishments for 214 wardens and officials for poor performance and alleged negligence of duty.
More than 1,000 wardens and officials were also rewarded for good performance.
According to details, the process of departmental accountability is ongoing in City Traffic Police Rawalpindi. Over the past 45 days, 1,023 wardens and officials were awarded incentives for good duty performance, while 214 were penalised for poor performance and three were dismissed from service on corruption charges.
CTO Farhan Aslam said rewards were given for exemplary performance during duty, while departmental punishments were imposed for corruption, lack of interest in duty, and negligence.
He said conscientious and hardworking officers and personnel are a source of pride for him and the police department. Meanwhile, Rawalpindi City Traffic Police has clarified that no challan targets are assigned to any officer or official, and challans are issued only for traffic violations.
According to sources, CTO Farhan Aslam stated that controlling traffic violations at any point is the responsibility of the concerned officer. Departmental punishment is imposed in case of negligence or carelessness during duty, while officers performing well are rewarded.
He said punishments are also given for lack of interest and negligence during duty, and three officials have been dismissed from service after corruption was proven.
