A private jet crash at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona has left one person dead and four others injured after a Learjet 35A collided with a parked Gulfstream 200.
The crash occurred Monday around 2:45 p.m. MT, prompting an immediate response from emergency crews.
According to Scottsdale Fire Department Captain Dave Folio, one person was pronounced dead at the scene, while two were transported to trauma centers in critical condition. Another injured individual was taken to a local hospital in stable condition. Authorities were still working to extricate one person from the wreckage.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the incident, stating that the Learjet 35A veered off the runway upon landing and crashed into the Gulfstream 200, which was parked on private property. Scottsdale Airport officials temporarily halted all incoming flights following the crash.
Images and footage shared on social media show the two mangled aircraft as first responders worked to secure the scene. The Learjet 35A, reportedly registered to a Hollywood-based company, is valued at approximately $4.8 million, while Gulfstream G200 jets range from $2.85 million to $7.2 million.
Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky expressed condolences to the victims and their families, stating that local and federal agencies are investigating the crash. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will conduct a full investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
