KARACHI:
A young mother of two was brutally strangled to death allegedly by her husband in Sector 12-E of Baldia Town on Thursday.
Idrees Bangash, SHO of Saeedabad police station, identified the victim as 22-year-old Saba, wife of Irfan. The couple had contracted a love marriage a few years ago. Irfan brutally tortured his young wife before strangling her to death, he added.
After the murder, Irfan called up his father-in-law and asked him to collect his daughter’s body from their house. Irfan, who hails from Sadiqabad, has been on the run since then, according to SHO Bangash.
The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
The victim’s parents alleged that Irfan was a drug addict who would often beat his wife while under the influence. Saba had returned to her parents’ home several times, but every time Irfan would manage to persuade her to return to his home, they further stated.
They called upon police high-ups to bring Irfan to justice. Police said that they have registered a case and investigation is ongoing.
In a related incident, the body of a 30-year-old nomadic woman with brutal torture marks was discovered in a deserted place near Khadim Solangi Goth on Superhighway.
Khalid Abbasi, the SHO of SITE Superhighway police station, said that police didn’t find anything on the body that could help them identify the victim. However, he confirmed that the woman was brutally murdered, though the body doesn’t have any visible bullet wounds.
The body was shifted it to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. SHO Abbasi said that the autopsy report would confirm how exactly she was murdered.
