The EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2024 Awards celebrated extraordinary entrepreneurs whose transformative leadership reshapes industries and fosters sustainability. 

This year’s honourees included James E. Thompson, founder of Crown Worldwide Group, representing Hong Kong and Macau, who exemplifies innovation, resilience and a commitment to making a positive global impact.

Transforming global logistics

Thompson’s entrepreneurial journey traces back to 1965 when he aimed to raise the bar and set a new standard for logistics services in Asia. 

Over the ensuing six decades, his vision transformed Crown Worldwide Group from a small Hong Kong-based business into a global logistics leader with operations in 45 countries. 

“Transforming Crown from a Hong Kong business to a global enterprise was our most significant innovation,” Thompson says. 

A key aspect of this transformation was Crown’s decision to establish its own branches in each market rather than rely on franchises.
