The Boys season 5 production likely to begin soon, teases star Nathan Mitchell
As fans eagerly await the next season of The Boys, Nathan Mitchell, who plays Black Noir, offered some insights into the production timeline and his character’s future in an exclusive interview with The Direct. Mitchell hinted that filming for the fifth and final season of the hit Amazon Prime series could begin soon, although he couldn’t provide specific dates. “I’ve heard inklings, but hopefully, we head back. I don’t know if I can officially say when we go back. But we are going back relatively soon,” Mitchell shared, adding that the writers are “baking up some crazy shit.”
Mitchell also discussed his excitement for Black Noir’s storyline in the upcoming season, revealing that showrunner Eric Kripke’s plans align perfectly with his own aspirations for the character. “I had a few ideas, but when [Kripke] came in, he was like—the second he told me what he was planning, I was like, ‘Oh, my God, that is my dream,’” Mitchell said.
The actor expressed interest in exploring Black Noir’s struggles with the limitations of his role in The Seven, particularly in relation to Homelander. “I want to see how he fights against those limitations… How much does he rebel against Homelander? In terms of the restrictions of his role,” Mitchell pondered, indicating that these themes may be explored in the new season.
Regarding the possibility of Black Noir appearing in Gen V season 2, a spinoff of The Boys, Mitchell acknowledged that while it hasn’t happened yet, it would be a “great” opportunity, especially considering Black Noir’s history as an alumnus of Godolkin University.
Production for The Boys season 5 may be influenced by the ongoing filming of Gen V season 2, which began in mid-May. However, Mitchell’s comments suggest that fans might not have to wait as long for the final season as they did for season 4. A 2026 release window for season 5 has been hinted at by Karl Urban, who plays Billy Butcher, offering fans a timeline to anticipate the conclusion of the series.
