Government to Impose New Garbage Tax in Punjab: Full Details Inside!
The Punjab government has decided to outsource its sanitation system and impose a new garbage tax across 110 tehsils in 36 districts. This move aims to improve waste management and sanitation services throughout the province.
The standing committee for finance and development of the provincial cabinet has approved the implementation of this garbage tax. It will be collected from every household, including those in slums, and from businesses across Punjab.
For residents in villages, houses ranging from five to ten marlas will be charged Rs200 per month as garbage tax. Larger factories, businesses, and petrol pumps will face a monthly charge of Rs700. Despite the introduction of this tax, it remains unclear whether the responsibility for garbage disposal will fall on the property owners or the government machinery.
The new tax aims to ensure a cleaner environment and better waste management across Punjab.
