3 designer swim shorts for men to make a splash this summer, from Hartford, CDLP and Orlebar Brown – as seen on Bridgerton’s Jonathan Bailey

We particularly love this pair of paisley-print shorts from Parisian label Hartford, available at Mr Porter. With an elastic waistband and crafted from a fast-drying shell fabric, you could even choose to dress them up with a T-shirt and loafers. The brand – founded by Yves Chareton in 1979 – fuses vintage-inspired styles with a relaxed flair.

Orlebar Brown

The British menswear label was established in 2007 by photographer Adam Brown and is known in the fashion set for its casual attire, bold designs – and swimwear. Much to our delight, the house recently tapped Bridgerton hunk Jonathan Bailey to model its spring/summer 2024 campaign. The collection, titled Blossom, features smartly tailored pieces such as these Setter Fiore printed swim shorts. They’re detailed with adjustable side tabs and sophisticated striped cuffs.

CDLP

The Stockholm-based brand specialises in timeless staples – including men’s swimwear – made from sustainable fabrics such as Econyl, a repurposed nylon derived from ocean and landfill waste. Those packing for their next hot weather getaway should consider CDLP’s shimmering swim shorts and box-cut briefs, which come in a variety of elegant colours, from juniper blue and cinnamon to poppy red.
